St. Peter's Youth Serve at St. John's Peace Meal

On Saturday, October 3, a group of ten members from St. Peter's Youth (SPY) put their faith into action by volunteering at the weekly Peace Meal hosted by St. John's Episcopal Church in Tower Grove. Spending their Saturday afternoon serving others, the youth embraced an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ within the community.
Throughout the day, the SPY volunteers assisted with a variety of tasks, including meal preparation, serving food, cleaning up, and welcoming guests with cheerful smiles. Their willingness to help wherever needed made a meaningful contribution to the ministry, which provides meals and fellowship to individuals and families throughout the area.
One of the most impactful aspects of the experience came not from the work itself, but from the relationships formed around the table. Because of the large number of volunteers present, several youth had the opportunity to sit down with guests, share a pastry, and listen to their stories. These conversations allowed the youth to connect personally with members of the community and gain a deeper understanding of the lives and experiences of those they were serving.
The afternoon also offered opportunities for fellowship beyond the meal. Some of the youth shared their musical talents by playing piano for guests, while others participated in a devotional gathering. These moments of music, prayer, and conversation helped create a welcoming atmosphere and reminded everyone that the Peace Meal is about more than providing food. It is also about building community and sharing God's love.
As the group reflected on the experience afterward, many commented on how quickly the time passed and how rewarding the afternoon had been. What seemed like a few simple hours of service became a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. During the SPY meeting the following evening, participants eagerly shared stories from the day, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve and the connections they had made.
We are proud of our St. Peter's Youth for their compassion, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve others. Their participation in the Peace Meal was a wonderful example of living out Christ's call to love our neighbors through service, fellowship, and kindness.
Thank you to everyone who participated, as well as those who have supported this ministry in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Together, we are making a difference in our community and sharing God's love in meaningful ways.
