How Does it Work?

St. Peter’s Cares is a ministry of parishioners taking care of each other with prayers, meals, and transportation. It is led by two shepherds, currently Nancy Grimes and Frances Gay, who share the responsibility of checking the St. Peter’s Cares phone line and emails daily where requests come in for help. The messages are answered within 24 hours. 

Requests for prayers are sent to Charlie Claggett who then forwards the request via email to the prayer team. This is WORK FROM HOME at its best! A group of dedicated prayer warriors will pray for the parishioner every day until the need ends. All prayers are confidential. The transportation team is starting back up after a break during Covid. New leadership is needed, but if a request comes through the St. Peter's Cares email or phone number, a shepherd will do their best to connect the parishioner with a driver. We are focusing on offering rides to church and church events at this time, with hopes to expand our offerings in the future.

Requests for meals are sent to Sandy Knight. Sandy then calls the person making the request and gets specific information about their needs: allergies, preferences, delivery times, etc. Using an online meal website, Take them a meal, the request is then emailed to the meal team members with all the pertinent information about the request listed. Members sign up to cook and deliver a meal when they are able to do so. Some of our meal team make one meal a month, others only take a meal a few times a year. You sign up only when it is convenient for you.

We would like to welcome more members to our team to share the joy and responsibility of this giving ministry. The satisfaction of delivering a meal to someone who needs help or praying for someone in a crisis is unbelievable, truly a ministry of love. Speak to our leadership for more information.
