Vestry and Delegate Nominations
Vestry & Diocesan Convention Delegate Nominations Requested
The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the Vestry and delegates to the annual Diocesan Convention. Below are brief descriptions of roles, requirements, and expectations for each role. A slate of five new Vestry members, 4 Diocesan Delegates and 1 alternate Diocesan Delegate will be elected by a vote of the congregation at our Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 23rd at 9:30 a.m. Any member of St. Peter's may nominate a candidate (including themselves).
Please speak with anyone you plan to nominate before submitting to make sure they are interested, willing, and available to serve in these important roles. Nominations are due by Sunday, December 5th.
The Vestry is the lay leadership team that works with the Rector to help define and articulate the mission of the church, support the church's mission by word and deed, pray, ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances. In addition, Vestry members will be assigned to projects or teams to further the work in keeping St. Peter's on track with God’s plan for our future.
A Vestry nominee must have been a member of St. Peter's for at least one year. The nominee should also be a confirmed communicant in good standing of the parish; that is, faithful in corporate worship and in working, praying, and giving faithfully to the ministries of St. Peter's Church.
Regular attendance at vestry meetings, which typically meets the fourth Tuesdays of each month from 5-6:30 p.m. in-person at the church. The term is for three years.
Of particular interest are those with experience in the HR (Employee Benefits & Compensation), Finance, Development, Facilitates Management, and Hospitality industries.
Our Lay Delegates along with our Clergy represent St. Peter's at the annual Diocesan Convention (https://www.diocesemo.org/diocesan-convention/) which occurs on the Friday and Saturday before Thanksgiving. Attendance is also encouraged at the monthly meetings with other delegates from parishes in Metro IV Region of the diocese. While attendance at these monthly meetings is not required, there is usually coordination among the lay and clergy delegates and to make sure St. Peter's is represented. Alternate delegates will be asked to attend the convention in the event a delegate is unable to attend. The term is for three years.
Nominations, made by completing the Nomination Form, must be submitted by Sunday, December 5, 2021.
After asking if the proposed nominee would be willing to be considered, please complete the Google form to nominate a potential Vestry member or Lay Delegate who exemplifies the mission and values of St. Peter's and who is committed to overseeing the ministry and people of St. Peter's. Nomination forms are also available on the Welcome Table in the Undercroft.
