The Merton Community
COMING IN JANUARY 2024: THE MERTON COMMUNITY
The Merton Community: A Thomas Merton Study/Prayer Group
The Merton Community is a group, open to all people, that exists to gather in prayer to discuss, cultivate, and share practices of spirituality, with the writings and ideas of the late Trappist monk Thomas Merton as our mentor. Reference will also be made to other spiritual leaders. Meetings of The Merton Community will be once a month, and will include exploration of Merton’s ideas on monastic spiritual practices, especially contemplative prayer. The aim of the group is to foster a community that assists each other in the various ways of living out our Christian vocation; or, to use Merton’s own words, “A man knows when he has found his vocation when he stops thinking about how to live and begins to live.”
Initial meeting January 18th 2024 at St Peter Episcopal Church at 4:30 PM
