Sign Up for Indaba Nights!

St. Peter's is excited for the return of Indaba Nights, a four-week series inspired by the South African concept of indaba, used at the 2008 Lambeth Conference as a way to increase understanding and deepen relationships amongst the bishops of the Anglican Communion. This year, our groups will gather together virtually, coming together at the end for a closing prayer. The evening will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

St. Peter’s has its own permanent reminder of what rests at the heart of long-lasting relationships and the building of community.  Inscribed on the three-ringed fountain in the Laird Garden is the Hebrew phrase “V’ahavta lo camocha,” which we all know as “And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Indaba is about coming together to discuss topics important to our common life, with the goal of better understanding one another’s perspective and growing as a supportive and loving community.

Indaba Nights is an invitation to increase understanding, deepen relationships, and build a stronger community here at St. Peter’s by spending time together in worship, fellowship, and deep discussion. We hope you take advantage of this new offering to virtually come together and grow in relationship with God and one another. RSVP today!

"We do not have to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us. The labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god. Where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves. Where we had thought to travel, outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence. Where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world." — JOSEPH CAMPBELL, HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES

Our religious institutions are not giving very many men access to credible encounters with the Holy or even with their own wholeness. We largely give men mandates, scaffolding, signposts, and appealing images that tend to create religious identity and boundaries from the outside. But true happiness, like true enlightenment, is always an inside job. Join Rev. Rob Voyle and Fr. Joseph and other men of our congregation as we read Adams Return by Richard Rohr. Explore what it is to be a man created in the likeness and image of God.

Women's Spirituality Group

I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches hidden in secret places, so that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name. -Isaiah 45:3

Join Ms. Sabine McDowell and other women in our congregation as we follow Barbara Brown Taylor in her book Learning to Walk in The Dark. The book follows Taylor's  journey to understand darkness, which takes her spelunking in unlit caves, learning to eat and cross the street as a blind person, discovering how "dark emotions" are prevented from seeing light from a psychiatrist, and rereading scripture to see all the times God shows up at night. With her characteristic charm and wisdom, Taylor is our guide through a spirituality of the nighttime, teaching us how to find God even in darkness, and giving us a way to let darkness teach us what we need to know. Through a spirituality of the nighttime, we learn how to find our footing in times of uncertainty, giving us strength and hope to face all of life's challenging moments.
