New Bible Study Opportunity this Fall

Wednesday morning Bible Study begins September 8th
“The Five Core Stories of the Old Testament”

Meeting on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., St. Peter’s new in-person bible study will begin on September 8th with a six-week session focused on the five core stories of the Old Testament, drawn from the Books of Genesis, Exodus, and Joshua.  Led by the Rev. Susie Skinner, the class will consider the importance of the concept of story in the Bible generally, and discover how the five core stories of the Hebrew Bible both informed the faith of the ancient Israelites and still today provide a basis for understanding the Christian New Testament. Susie will weave the five core stories into the 11:30 a.m. celebration of Holy Eucharist, which will follow each class.

For planning purposes, if you would like to participate in the class or have questions, please contact the Rev. Kelly Carlson at by September 7th. Participating in bible study and participating in worship are not necessarily linked – come to either, or to both! (Consistent with the parish’s Covid safety measures, to protect the wellbeing of all participants, we ask that everyone attending bible study be fully vaccinated.)

Looking ahead, after The Five Core Stories of the Old Testament is completed, bible study will take a well-deserved two-week hiatus. Reconvening on November 3rd, the Rev. Kelly Carlson will lead a six-week session exploring the incarnation stories in Matthew and Luke. The session will end, most appropriately, in the middle of Advent.

Bring your bible and join Susie and Kelly on Wednesday mornings this fall!
