We hear the scriptures proclaimed in church services, and opportunities to study the Bible abound. But what does it mean to pray the scriptures? On Wednesdays in Advent  (November 29-December 21), all are welcome to join the Rev. Nathan Haydon in the Elliot Room, from 10:30am – 11:30 a.m., as he leads a series titled “Praying the Bible: Contemplating the Scriptures During Advent.” Focused on scripture, this is not a Bible study, but an introduction to the ancient practice of lectio divina, or "sacred reading." We will spend time prayerfully meditating and contemplating the lectionary readings for the Sundays of Advent and see how we can further anticipate the presence of Christ in Christmas through praying the Word of God.
