Harold Friedell (1905-1958) was Organist and Master of the Choir at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, New York City. His lyrical anthem “Draw us in the Spirit’s tether” has enjoyed great popularity since its composition.

The anthem at Communion was commissioned by St. Peter’s from English composer Sasha Johnson Manning in 2016. The first performance was sung by a semi-chorus from the St. Peter’s Choir on the Second Sunday after Pentecost that year, with the composer in attendance.
